Congratulations to Jiaping Gu and Liang Han
Jiaping Gu and Liang Han successfully defended their theses on July 30th. Both students relocated with me to Emory last summer and went back to Robert Wood Johnson Medical School for their thesis defense. Since the Neuroscience Program is a joint graduate program of Rutgers/UMDNJ, Jiaping and Liang will receive their diploma with both universities' names on it!.Liang's thesis: "SPATIAL SIGNALING AND DIRECTIONAL CONTROL IN AXON GUIDANCE"
Jiaping's thesis: "CYTOSKELETAL REGULATION OF DENDRITIC SPINES"

We have moved!!
The lab has moved to Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. We are now part of the Cell Biology Department, Emory University, School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA. The lab is physically located on the fifth floor, which houses several labs from the Cell Biology department, the center for neurodegenerative diseases (CND), and labs of the Neurology department. Very exciting!

Carmine Guirland graduates with a Ph.D. and a Metal!
Carmine Guirland has successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on April 6th. His thesis title is" Spatial Signaling in Growth Cone Guidance". During his tenure with the lab, Carmine has published two first author papers (one in Journal of Neuroscience and on in Neuron) and one second author paper on Neuron. His achievement has been noted and he has been selected to receive the 2005 Stanley S. Bergen, Jr. M.D. Medal of Excellence. We congratulate Carmine for his past achievement and wish him the best of luck in the future.
