Research Focus: Germline reprogramming in C. elegans are regular features in undergraduate classes I teach at Oglethorpe. I’m interested in basic questions of how histone methylation functions in cell fate determination and differential gene expression.

Research Focus: I am using mouse models and post-mortem human cases to determine how LSD1 interacts with pathological tau to drive neurodegeneration in the context of Alzheimer’s disease and other tauopathies.

Research FocusI am using mouse models to study the role of LSD1 in tau-mediated neurodegenerative diseases.

Research Specialist

Research Focus: I am using cells to recapitulate the interaction between tau and LSD1 found in the PS19 Tau mouse model. This will form the basis of an Alzheimer’s disease drug screen targeted LSD1.

Research Focus: I am using C. elegans to study how epigenetic modifications can regulate embryo development and cell fate determination.

Alyssa Scott
Graduate Student
GMB Program

Hometown: Granville, New York
Undergraduate: Marist College

Email Alyssa

Research FocusI am developing a new mouse model to study the maternal role of LSD1 in epigenetic reprogramming at fertilization, and how defects in that reprogramming event can possibly lead to neurodevelopmental disorders.
